In the search for the perfect motorcycle jackets, helmets, and boots, sometimes the pants can be forgotten. You wouldn’t forget your pants for a regular outfit, so why overlook then for your riding outfit? Leather motorcycle pants come in all sizes and styles. Anyone can find a set that will fit them, and as with most motorcycle gear, they are increasing in popularity and options every year.
Let’s face it. Leather motorcycle pants are sexy! How many of us have looked in a mirror and wondered how we’d look in a set? Well, they’re worth the money you pay for them for a variety of reasons.
First, I can think of few other materials that are going to protect you better if you lay your bike down. Leather is one of the best for taking a beating, but leaving the wearer unscathed. There are plenty of stories of riders who only avoided a hospital trip because of their leathers. There are a couple other materials that can protect a rider, but since Kevlar pants are expensive and not readily available, leather is the best choice.
Second, leather motorcycle pants are going to stand up to more wear than denim will. If you carry your wallet in your back pocket, it will wear out a denim pocket, especially when coupled with the vibration of a motorcycle. It will take a lot longer for leather to show the same daily abuse.
Leather pants can be bought in various styles, and if you already have a leather jacket, you can match your pants to your jacket. Like jackets, pants come in very simple styles, designed for comfort and not much else. There are also pants that come with braids and laces up the sides. These are particularly popular in women’s styles. If you have a jacket with a lot of metal on it, such as zippers or buckles, you can even find pants with these on them.
When shopping for pants, keep your bike in mind as well. Nothing is cooler than a rider who looks like all their stuff was made to coordinate. Having your own unique look is part of the point. One nice thing about there being such a variety of leather pants on the market is that if you are part of a riding club, you can wear the club jacket, and your pants will still make you stand out.
If leather pants are not your thing, or if you are using your motorcycle to commute to work, where you don’t want to be wearing leather motorcycle pants, leather chaps are a great alternative. With chaps, you can get similar protection, and can look great as well. But they can be easily removed when you arrive at your destination. These come in many similar styles to leather pants, so if there is a particular look you like, you are likely to be able to find it in either type of trouser.
Leather motorcycle pants are a great way to finish that perfect riding outfit you’ve been working on. There are many styles on the market, and there’s no doubt that you can find a set that will make you look awesome this year.
